Power factor
Active to apparent power ratio - it is the factor of el. power transmission efficiency

Power factor compensation
Improvement of power factor value by the compensation device

Voltage and current harmonics
Voltage and current components, frequency of which represents multiple of the basic frequency

Filtration of harmonics
Reduction of the level of harmonics by the filtration circuits

HV – high voltage
Voltage of the distribution system ranging from 1000 to 35 000 V

LV – low voltage
Voltage of the distribution systems up to 1000 V

Classic compensation device
The most common compensation device consisting as a rule of the capacitor steps switched by a contactor

Contact-free compensation device
The compensation device applying the contact-free (thyristor) switch for individual step switching
